Welcome Home

After 1 year and 3 months, 87 boxes, driving past 100's of homes, 3 trips to Tremonton, 3 trips to Lewiston, 4 trips to Clarkston, and 57 offers later- we offically can call ourselves homeowners! Plenty of Real Estate agents told us it couldnt be done with the payment we were looking for, but we found one!

Busy Days

Chuck and I have been working on buying a house for over a year now. We've been pretty picky- maybe a little too picky. And we wanted to get a really great deal. And after months and months of following homes and making offers and waiting and waiting and waiting we've finally got a home. We've had a lot of problems with this home too but we've worked through all the problems and are finally moving forward. So between boxing things up and working with different agents and waiting on possible short sales we've come to the end of a very long year!

I'm still working on Mickala and Will's pictures. Slowly but surely! Hopefully once life has calmed down a bit I can get them finished!

Trista really wanted a few pictures with her parents but because of healthy reasons her parent's couldnt go much further than their own home. So we walked across the street and had the beautiful sky behind them. But the sun was still a bit too bright and they were in a bit of a shadow. So to avoid underexposing them, the photo needed to be a bit over exposed in the sky. So I made an artificial blue sky! And I think they turned out nicely!

I got all of this for just $9.50 from Albertsons. Between coupons and weekly deals I think I did pretty good!

There are two things you can always count on when it comes to the outside of your vehicle.

1. No matter how great the weather forecaster says it's going to be, if you wash your car mother nature will conjure up just enough rain to acquire irritating spots on your car.

2. If you purposely go out of your way to park as far as possible from any shopping cart corrals, as you exit the store you'll find at least three shopping carts sitting within a foot of your car.

I had the privilege of counting on both of these occurrences today!

This past Wednesday was Chuck's birthday. I got him this fantastic gigantic cookie from Smith's. He is officially 25 now. Which means he can rent a car without having to pay the extra $30 a day for an "underage" fee. That would have been nice while we were in Florida! And no longer can he use just one box of candles. He's now moved on to two.

This past weekend my entire family got together for my oldest sister, Aspen's, birthday. Even though I didnt get a picture of her I'll make it up with her adorable youngest.

This is my younger sister Sasha. Ignore the child she'd holding and her animated face- doesnt that pink shirt make her look particularly grown up? The whole day I kept thinking how great that shirt makes her look.

There's a wild cat that sits outside our front door. We've adopted the name Patches for her.

Recently she's adopted my fantastic box. [More on that later.]

My cat seems to be incredibly jealous of her freedom. Although, little does she remember a year ago she got into a bit of a tizzy with this cat and I'm only saving her hiney!

This is my fantastic find. While the huzz and I were waiting for the birthday party to get started we stopped off at a few yard sales. I've decided once we finally buy a home I'll be decorating my kitchen in red/vintage. This box will be perfect. And it only cost me $4!!!

Over Tuesday and Wednesday I got to babysit my niece, Brynlie, while her older sisters got to go to Disneyland! After her meltdown coming back from the airport she was able to calm down and enjoy herself. At one point I caught her reading/singing to her doll. And when she realized I was watching her she got very embarassed! I only had my P&S with me because I thought Chuck may have needed my Nikon. So they arent the best of quality.

On Wednesday I called for Brynlie over and over and she wouldnt come. So I started walking around and I found this! She sat there the entire time the air conditionar was on!

I've realized I need a sloppy joe buddy.

You see, the Huzz loves sloppy joes but doesnt so much like the taste of the sloppy part! He likes more of the hamburger taste. So when I make sloppy joes I only end up using about 1/4 of the can. I always hate throwing the rest of the can away but we only eat sloppy joes maybe once a month. So I'm thinking I should team up with someone and they can have the rest of my can for dinner the next night.

Today while driving home from the grocery store I passed a laundry mat. I saw the funniest thing that made me chuckle a bit to myself while I passed by. Two very tall, very skinny men, wearing cowboy hats were both holding a handle of an overflowing, dragging on the ground, HUGE white bag- filled to the brim with clothes.

I only regret not turning around and taking a double take to see what exactly they were wearing.

Easter weekend Sadie came and stayed with Chuck and I. We had been planning this event since Christmas time. Last year Chuck and I stumbled upon a great activity, Baby Animal Days. We enjoyed it so much we invited Sadie to come along this year. And we made a whole weekend of it. With lots of rock band, baby animals, parks, egg hunting and my personal set of pigs we really enjoy our weekend!
We were a bit disappointed with the Baby Animal Days this year- there was HUNDREDS of people. Last year there were no lines and you could go from station to station with no problems whatsoever. But this year I couldnt believe the amount of people that came! So there werent very many great pictures of Sadie and the animals. But still a few good ones!

I came across this blog tonight and I've become so addicted! This woman lives in Salt Lake and actually makes such great money from the ads on her blog that both her and her husband dont have actual jobs. She recently wrote a book that is now on the New York times top ten list. This woman is hilarious! But the best part about the whole blog is her dogs Coco and Chuck. Chuck in particular makes it worth reading! He allows her to put things on his head and she takes pictures of him! These 1 & 2 are by far the funniest. I laughed so hard when I first brought these up. I cant wait to have a dog of my own to teach him sweet tricks like this!

Today I woke up and was delightfully surprised by this:

It's so warm outside and unbelievably beautiful! My neighbor even told me all about her tulips and how they've popped up out of the ground! I am so excited for spring to get here!

I'm finally getting around to posting our Florida pictures. While we were there we went to a few different zoos. They had so many different kinds of animals.

This is an Emu's foot.

I loved taking pictures of all the animal feet. They were all so cute!

One zoo let us walk through this huge bird exhibit. At the end you had to walk through a couple different doors and on the last door there was a mirror that asked you to 'check for hitchhikers!' I promise Chuck is not sweating profusely in this picture- they had little water mist stations because it's so hot there.

Those little feet support a VERY large giraffe!

You would not believe how many creatures there were over there. And I swear they were at least 3 or 4 times the size of the creatures that are here in Utah.

I just realized that every picture I have on here they are standing on two feet. But they really do stand on just one leg!

This is how the flamingo hang out. The have a little pouch on their backs and they sleep with their beaks twisted into that pouch.

These two were HUGE. The bottom mama grasshopper had to have been at least 5 inches long.

This is Lou the hippo. He is the only hippo in Florida. He was actually going to be shipped out of Florida because of some kind of hippo law but the Governor pardoned him to stay.

Awhile ago Chuck and I started reading both the Harry Potter and Twilight series. I came across the Twilight books when I was working at the Ranch because so many of my girls wanted to canoodle this Edward guy! Well, one day while I was in boarders I sat down to read the first couple of pages and I ended up reading the whole first chapter! I kept going back until I was about 6 chapters into the book and Chuck told me to just buy it! I actually had to talk him into reading it. ...he soon became addicted to them- worse than me!

After he finished the series he started on the Harry Potter books. Which I swore I'd never read. But he kept having "Harry Potter dreams" and wanted to talk to me about the books so bad! ...so I also read the entire Harry Potter series. Which really ended up being pretty good. Ever since Chuck finished the books (right now working on the third time!) he's really been pretty ridiculously obsessed.

We saw the Twilight movie the first day it came out- and he was WAAAY more excited than me. And he was ROYALLY upset when he found out they pushed the Harry Potter movie back to July. And when he thinks about it he actually gets pretty irritated! And I always catch him on the computer watching the trailer! While we were in Florida we saw a few signs at Universal Studios about the new Harry Potter ride coming soon. Every time we past the signs we'd stop and look at what they'd already constructed and he'd tell me how much he wished it was already done! One day when he saw a trailer for one of the upcoming movies he turned to me and said, "I think I was supposed to be born as a thirteen year old girl!"

You're All Wrong

What really happened- Annie and Russ got a glass basket for their wedding. When they dropped off a bunch of things for our yard sale in July they sat and poked fun of it saying it was a bit godly and overdone. Which, both Chuck and I agreed with. During the yard sale we specifically watched as person after person pulled it out of the box, just to place it back into the box and not buy it. After the yard sale we were getting everything together that wasnt sold and bring it to the DI. When we came across the glass basket we thought it would be funny to some how give it back to Annie and Russ later on. We figured we'd just wrap it up and put it under the Christmas tree without a giver's name on it. When we soon realized it would be much funnier if Mickala gave it to them. Because they'd have to act like it was really cute- when really, it's only continually haunted them. So when both Mickala and I had made a big deal to them that they were getting a realllly cool Christmas gift they were both pretty excited! So Mickala decorated the box ooh so perfectly. And when Annie and Russ opened the box you could clearly tell they were a bit puzzled yet didnt want to hurt Mickala's feelings so they have the look of, "Ooh, this is... nice."

Pet Peeve: I specifically put 'alike' things together on the belt at the grocery store. So those 'alike' things will end up together in my grocery bags. Example: Frozen foods with the frozen foods. Non food items with non food items. Or even to the extent of putting the eggs on top of the bread. So when I come home with my oranges and apples in the SAME bag as my bread. I get a little peeved. I know that there's a lot going on at the register. You've got to scan, bag, and keep track that you're doing this all correctly just to have to count money back and work the register correctly. But please. I beg you, don't put my bread in with the fruit. It gets squished. And really, no one likes squished bread.

I've never been more pleased with a Christmas Present, ever. I like having the freedom to print whatever I please! I'm a pretty serious savvy shopper. And I've always hated the fact that I've missed out on online grocery coupons. But I now, am a prouder savvy shopper with my printed coupons!

Christmas Day 2008

This Christmas Chuck and I drove to Vernal to spend Christmas with my family. Here are a few pictures from those few days we spent there.

Christmas Eve Santa had a few helper to build a large doll house for my nieces. Russ and my Grandpa stayed up for a few hours to finish the house!

Christmas morning Chuck and I had the privilage of feeding the Wild Turkey's that roam around my parent's house- they even got too scoops of feed that day!

Chuck and I played a trick on Annie and Russ. And it was very successful! We got some pretty great pictures of Annie's facial expressions!

We enjoyed our stay in Vernal. Even though it was a bit cold for our taste! (Even for living in Logan!)

Christmas Cook-Off

My family has a newer tradition, the cook-off. This year it ended in another tie. But my mom promises that next year there will be a definite winner. This year the girls made some tasty ham sandwiches and the boys made ribs.

Taylor is my niece. While Chuck and I were in Vernal for Christmas I hurried and snapped a few practice shots of her. She really is one of the cutest babies I've ever seen. Some of these turned out really great!

These two were so great to photograph! Michelle knew that she wanted lots of photos- and understood that to get great photos she had to go slow and stop in certain places and sometimes even let me run ahead of her! Before the wedding she asked me about specific pictures she wanted me to get- which made things that much easier! The lighting was perfect- and the weather was awesome! It held out just for her, because the following day the rain and the snow followed and hasnt stopped since!

This is one of my most favorite moments. This is RIGHT after they kissed as husband and wife. Look at the grin on Michelle's face. That is absolutely priceless.

I think Michelle looks so beautiful in this picture. She just looks so natural.

My favorite photo for today. Chuck and I have enjoyed Christmas a few times now- and it hasnt even been Christmas yet. This weekend we enjoyed spending time with his family for a few days in Salt Lake. It snowed quite a bit so his parents were gone plowing most of the time we were there- and Chuck enjoyed a few hours a plowing himself! We also all went to the Body Work's display. It was a bit pricey and really hot- but very interesting!

I am in love with Michelle & David's wedding photos. I'm about 600 edits into it and I just keep finding more and more that I absolutely love. He was so adorable with her! And I really enjoyed the cowboy hats the groom and groomsmen wore. I'm also learning all sorts of different techniques for edits, which is always fun!

We made our gingerbread house this past weekend. I found the best gingerbread making kit ever. I will continue to buy this particular kit from now on. It had pre-made frosting and little grooves specially fit for the house to sit in so it didnt fall down. Genius I tell ya.
It also had a pretty sweet christmas tree, snowman, and 'ginger kid'.

It finally snowed today! Chuck and I were both agreeing that it really only felt like the middle of October because it's just been so warm and there's been snow. But today it really started to feel & look like Christmas!

The question of the day: What is the point of having a carport if you still end up scraping snow off your vehicle? [By the way, this is my new friend!]

Chuck and I saw this on TV the other day and laughed so hard! And we've seen it a few times since then and Chuck busts up every time! I had gone online to find the video and I guess there's a huge controversy whether or not they should keep it on air because it's "scary for kids" and "inhumane". Kids are pansies these days!

Wedding & Cards

Here are a few pictures to start with! On Saturday I took pictures at Michelle and David's wedding. The day was perfect and Michelle was a fantastic bride to work with! The wedding and reception was held at the Riter Mansion in Logan. If youre looking for a place to have your wedding/reception. This place was PERFECT. I'm am incredibly pleased with my pictures because the lighting inside couldnt have been any better.

Chuck couldnt have been happier that not only did the Eagles win today but the Cowboys, Giants, and Redskins lost.

Christmas Is Coming

Here is my Christmas Tree. Aspen calls it the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree because it's not very full. But it only cost me 10 bucks so I really cant complain! Maybe one day I'll pay a little more for one. But until then, this one will suit me fine. I told Aspen I didnt think she had enough ornaments on her tree and she told me I just had a lot on mine because it was lacking in branches and I had to cover them up. I took one picture with the lights off and set the shutter speed slower so you can get the real effect!

I was going to do Before & Afters but I really need to get to bed. But I've started playing around with Photoshope and learning different things. The new "trend" is really contrasted pictures. And the black border is really popular. Which, I'd have to agree with because I think it really makes the photo.

I took family photos for my family back in October. The initial pictures I really hated. But after studying and looking through lots of different photographer's photos I had a string of creativity come through! I basically hated the lighting the most. And by either switching the photos to black & white or playing around the the contrast I think I like the color of the pictures more. I like the standing group more than the sitting group. Even though me and Chuck's heads are glowing!

Michelle's Bridals

You can see more of her bridals here. Since the sun was still kind of high we tried to play around a little with the light. There were a few that I really really liked, but in a lot of the photos I felt like the sun was a little too much. But there were quite a few that I ended up really really loving. She is so beatiful. She looks so peaceful in a lot of them and I feel like she just radiates with love.

New Adventure

Chuck and had to travel to SLC over Tuesday night for a few different things and while we were there Sherene and I discussed an interesting career path for myself. Along with my portrait photography I'm also going to start towards real estate photography. She told me how realtors will actually pay people to go out and take the pictures of their properties. And they're even more interested in someone putting the pictures together on a flyer. So before we left SL I went through the home they just finished renovating and I drew up my own flyer tonight. It's not completely finished because she's going to be emailing me a few more details about the home. (The address is incorrect) But I'm pretty excited about this! Something new.

Sneak Peak!

Today I took bridals for Michelle. I'm only about 50 edits in and I came across these two beautiful pictures! The shoot was super hard! We had to avoid sunspots- which were everywhere because all the trees have no leaves! And it was hard to find pretty leaves because most of them were pretty gross from all the rain lately. But so far I think I got a few that she'll really like.

Today I finished Jenessa's senior photos. She is so beautiful. I loved so many of her photos! Her skin was fantastic outside. I'm glad the weather was perfect for us.

Tomorrow I'm going to take Michelle's bridals. Were going to acouple different locations to try and get a variety and hopefully there will still be a few fall leaves on the ground.

I am unbelieveably excited for Christmas. My Christmas shopping is almost finished. And it's taking everything inside of me to not put all my Christmas decor and tree up.

Chuck is doing decent. The first couple of days he had no pain, whatsoever. But then the numbing meds finally wore off and his ankle had quite a bit of pain. He's been going to physical therapy every other day. I think it's really starting to help because the pain is slowly going away. Although, today he started getting another gout attack! Even though he's taken all red meat out of his diet. If it's not one thing... it's another!

Chuck's Surgery

Today Chuck went into surgery for his ankle. After getting dressed in his cute little dress I had to take some pictures! Although, I only had my cell phone so the pictures arent the best of quality! In the last picture you can see on the right side his sweet new boot that he isnt allowed to take off for the next two weeks! You can also tell he's still a bit drugged!
Overall the surgery went well. It took about 2 1/2 hours and the doctor was able to clean out all the inflamed tissues and remove a lot of built up muck that had formed over time. Chuck also has a bit of arthritis so we may end up getting surgery done on it again after 24 years.
